New version of Db Maint supports SQL Server 7.0
Version 2.0 of the maintenance program for SQL Server, Db Maint, will be launched world-wide on the 1st of April. Db Maint maintains and preserves Microsoft SQL Server installations and its data, and version 2.0 of Db Maint supports both SQL Server 6.5 and the new 7.0.
Db Maint is an administration program for maintenance of Microsofts database management system SQL Server. The software contains several functions which significantly facilitate administration and improve performance of MS SQL Server 6.5 and 7.0, e.g. safer and easier backup, continuous reports on the conditions of the databases, advanced logging and presentation, and analyses and documentation of the SQL Server installation, including databases.
In the new Db Maint 2.0, which supports SQL Server 6.5 as well as 7.0, the prime news is a significantly extended and improved logging. In addition, there are several new functions e.g. logging to printer and SNMP, predefined maintenance routines, improved and simplified installation, and automatic documentation of the SQL Server installation.
The potential for minimizing risks of losing mission-critical data is of special importance since the systems that are based on SQL Server i.e. customer registers, invoice systems, accounting systems, systems for wages and salaries, supplier registers etc are critical for virtually every middle-sized and large corporation, and where losing the data normally implies grave consequenses to the operations of the company.
Databases tend to be more company critical, which increases maintenance demands. Together with the global "down-sizing trend" (decentralization of database maintenance) this makes it extra important to safe-guard against loss of data since knowledge of database maintenance is often lacking in subsidiaries and smaller business units. I both these cases, using maintenance programs like Db Maint is the safest and most cost-efficient way to facilitate database administration and protect the organization against corrupt and inconsistent databases.
Despite its advanced and powerful functions, Db Maint is easy to use, specifically designed to enable even relatively inexperienced network administrators to maintain and configure administration of SQL Server which is especially important in smaller installations without access to SQL Server expertise.
Db Maint 2.0 will be launched on a global basis and sold via Internet (www.dbmaint.com).
The following functions are all included in the new Db Maint 2.0 for SQL Server 6.5 and 7.0:
